Atmosphere: Down-to-Earth and Cozy in Breitenrain
Dolce Vita is located on Scheibenstrasse in Bern’s Breitenrain quarter, slightly away from the city center. The clientele consists mainly of locals – a good sign.
Upon entering, the simple yet cozy interior immediately stands out. This is not a high-end Italian restaurant, but a place where you feel at home. The decor is straightforward and relaxed, the atmosphere is comfortable.
The restaurant has plenty of seating and is therefore well suited for groups – whether it’s a Christmas dinner, a family celebration, or a class reunion. In summer, guests can sit outside.
The Kitchen: Italian Home-Style Cooking
Starter: Salad
After greeting us, the waiter quickly showed us to our table and took our order. The food arrived shortly after. I started with a salad – surprisingly fresh and good for CHF 6.
Main Course: Saltimbocca with Risotto
For the main course, I chose the saltimbocca. It was prepared flavorfully, with an aromatic sauce that gave the dish the right amount of seasoning. The risotto alongside tasted good but was a little too firm – not quite as creamy as I would have liked. A minor criticism.
My companion opted for a fish dish and praised it as well. We accompanied the meal with a Langhe wine, which paired beautifully with the Italian cuisine.
After the meal, we had coffee and limoncello. The waiter even offered us a second limoncello on the house – a lovely gesture that we greatly appreciated.
Service
The service is friendly, almost warm. The staff are always on hand to take orders or fulfill any requests. The relaxed, informal manner of the team contributes significantly to the welcoming atmosphere.
