Essort in Bern is a restaurant run by a young married couple. Their goal is to consistently offer sophisticated cuisine of the highest quality.

At lunch, Essort serves a set menu or a business lunch (3 to 5 courses). The evening selection is equally – intentionally – limited, offering a 3 to 6 course menu. We came for the business lunch.
We were first served a crispy pan-fried quail on pea purée, with the quail truly aromatic in preparation. This was followed by a very tasty flank steak with a dark sauce and mashed potatoes.
Next came the dessert, a cheese dessert unlike any I’ve had before: a cheese mousse alongside a mango sorbet – the combination was unusual but worked very well. The meal ended with a strong coffee and friandises.
The restaurant is highly recommended. It is on the pricier side, which is understandable given this top-level cuisine.
